Wilhelm Furtwängler Society of China releases the first society edition disc

Category: #Society-releases

Wilhelm Furtwängler Society of China is to release its first society edition disc, WFSC-001, on 1 September 2021. The content of the disc is Wilhelm Furtwängler conducting Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 with the Berliner Philharmoniker in 1943. We have chosen two sets of LPs published in the early Soviet era (1959) for the transfer process. They were released by two publishing houses, Lighthouse and Riga. We have restored the transcription from Riga to make the sound more natural, enjoyable, and to remove most of the background noise. As for the transfer from Lighthouse, we have chosen to retain its original characteristics, allowing fans to hear a sound closer to the original master tape.

The booklet accompanying this CD release will be in both Chinese and English, spanning over ten pages and containing rich content. It includes, but is not limited to, the historical background of the recording, information about the recording equipment used, as well as analysis and evaluation of Furtwängler’s interpretation of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. Stay tuned for more details.

Regarding the pricing of the CD, WFSC will always offer affordable prices to Furtwängler enthusiasts. The price for this CD is set at 60 yuan, and purchasing three or more CDs will include free shipping. Individuals are limited to purchasing a maximum of five CDs.

Note: This CD is produced internally by the society. WFSC is a nonprofit organization, and any profits from the sale of the recordings will be reinvested in the continuous operation of the society.
